Common Questions Answered for Your Window and Door Needs
Short answer? Absolutely!
A window’s efficiency is largely based on it’s air-tightness and insulative properties of the glass assembly (R-value).
VEKA WINDOWS ARE AIR-TIGHT!
The ability of a window to close and seal tightly is probably the most important factor to a window’s airtightness. VEKA windows have multi-point locks that seal the active sash, and the sash itself has a rubber seal that is compressed when the lock is engaged. In addition, a secondary rubber seal seals the sash against the frame.
The second source of air leakage is between the glass and the vinyl frame. Many window companies employ a glazing tape to seal the glass in the vinyl frame. VEKA windows have a rubber seal that provides a durable and lasting air seal between the glass and the vinyl frame.
VEKA WINDOWS ARE WELL INSULATED!
Key Features Contributing to Insulation:
5-Chamber Profile: The multi-chamber design within the uPVC frame creates air pockets that effectively reduce heat transfer.
Frame Depth: The 70 mm (2-3/4") depth allows for the use of robust and highly insulating glazing units, including triple glazing up to 42 mm thick.
Class A Profiles: VEKA profiles are classified as Class A according to DIN EN 12608, meaning the external wall thickness is at least 3 mm, which enhances stability and thermal protection.
Window thermal performance is most often measured by U-value (the rate of heat loss), which is the inverse of the R-value (the resistance to heat flow). A lower U-value means a higher R-value and better insulation.
The R-value for a complete window system using the VEKA 70 profile depends on the specific glazing (glass unit) used. Achievable whole-window R-values typically range from R-value 3 to R-value 5.7 (which corresponds to U-values of 0.176 to 0.30 BTU/H*ft²*F)
Windows with U-factors in the 0.20 to 0.27 range are considered excellent and typically qualify for ENERGY STAR status in the US, making the VEKA 70 a high-performance system when properly configured.
Windows are the weakest part of your wall assembly: several pieces of glass separated by a sealed air or gas chamber for insulation is all that separates the inside environment from what is going on outside.
For maximum energy efficiency it is important to ensure that walls, attic, floors, and doors are also properly insulated/sealed. Otherwise, heat or cool air (or moisture) may bypass even energy-efficient windows.
But, windows are the greatest culprit when it comes to leaking warm air to the outside in the winter and allowing hot moist air to infiltrate a cooled interior in the summer months.
In Tennessee, ENERGY STAR windows can save homeowners roughly $200 to over $500 annually on energy bills, with potential savings of 12% on total energy costs, especially when replacing old single-pane windows, reducing heating/cooling use that accounts for up to 30% of energy consumption. Actual savings depend on your home's current windows and climate, but generally offer significant returns over time.
Lead times on manufacturing windows average 8-10 weeks. As soon as your windows are made, an install date is confirmed and the installation of new construction windows take a day or a few days (depending on the size of the order). It is important to order your windows with enough lead time so that they arrive when your home is framed. We can hold your windows in storage for upto 30 days if necessary.
Professionally installed VEKA windows carry a 10 year warranty on finish and hardware. Professionally installed Reynards aluminum windows also carry a limited warranty of 10 years on finish and hardware.

VEKA windows are made of UPVC but there is a large assortment of textures, wood grains and colors that can be applied to the window frame. UPVC is durable, resistant to rot and distortion from moisture and weather. (link to colors)
Reynards aluminum window and door systems also come in a variety of applied colors/textures/patterns, but the frames are made of aluminum. (link to colors)
Yes! There are multiple frame styles and options in the VEKA window product line. Our Rehart aluminum product is very versatile and can be customizable to suit both your aesthetic style and functionality from a slimline to a commercial style engineered system to support large expanses of glass.
